The Soul of Djende

DJENDE: A Family Legacy, A Commitment for All

In eastern Cameroon, in the fertile lands of the commune of Doumaintang , lies the village of " Djende" .
Here, for generations, life has pulsed to the rhythm of the coffee trees.

Our story was born from this land, carried by a man's love for his culture and by a family's determination to perpetuate his dream.

Chapter I – The Roots: Alphonse's Legacy

It all started with Mr. Miambe Alphonse , one of the largest coffee growers in the region.
For him, agriculture was more than a job: it was the foundation on which he built the future of his children.

Upon his death, his children inherited a deep love of coffee and a strong sense of duty.
While many planters gave up in the face of the drastic fall in prices, they continued, in memory of their father.

But they knew it: farming wasn't enough .
This work needed to be recognized for its true value.

Chapter II – The Turning Point: Elisette's Mission

In May 2022, a pillar of the village passed away: IKOUE MIAMBE ELISETTE .
She was the beating heart of solidarity in Djende.

At the start of the school year in September 2022, the extent of his commitment became clear:
- without her, the children could not start school.
- She single-handedly covered the tuition fees and teachers' salaries.

His departure leaves a huge void. Immediately, the family organizes a fundraising campaign.
Then it starts all over again in the following years.

But one thing is clear: a long-term solution is needed .

Chapter III – The Renaissance: The Birth of the DJENDE Project

In 2024, the rise in coffee prices gives hope.
Coffee farmers are encouraged with a clear promise:

To find a way for a fair sale of their harvest.

To enable each parent to provide for their family through their own work .

It is from this promise that the DJENDE project was officially born, named in honor of:

  • from the land of our ancestors

  • from our grandfather

  • and our mother

To ensure the long-term sustainability of this action, the MIAMBE ELISETTE Foundation was created to continue and expand social work for the development of Djende.

Chapter IV – Our Extended Commitment: A Promise for All Localities

Beyond the coffee from its village of origin, today DJENDE is a brand based on a simple conviction:

"What began to bring justice to the farmers of Djende must be extended to all farmers."

Each product – coffee , tea, honey, spices – is sourced with the same ethical standards.
Through fair trade principles and total transparency, we ensure that all farmers , in all localities, are paid fairly and with respect.

The model that originated in Djende becomes a rule for every partnership.
