DJENDE: A Family Legacy, A Commitment for All
In the eastern region of Cameroon, in the fertile lands of the Doumaintang district, lies the village of Djende.
For generations, life there has moved to the rhythm of the coffee harvest.
Our story was born from this land — carried by one man’s love for cultivation and by a family’s determination to carry his dream forward.
Chapter I — The Roots: Alphonse’s Legacy
It began with Mr. Miambe Alphonse, a widely respected coffee grower in the region.
For him, agriculture was more than a profession. It was the foundation on which he built the future of his children.
When he passed away, his children inherited not only his land, but also his deep love for coffee and his strong sense of responsibility. At a time when many growers were abandoning their farms because of the sharp decline in coffee prices, the family chose to continue — in honour of their father and everything he had built.
But one truth became clear: growing coffee was not enough.
That work also needed recognition, dignity, and better long-term value.
Chapter II — The Turning Point: Elisette’s Mission
In May 2022, Djende lost one of its strongest pillars: Ikoue Miambe Elisette.
She was a deeply committed figure of solidarity in the village.
When the new school year began in September 2022, the extent of her contribution became even more visible. Her support had helped many children access school and had contributed to important educational needs in the community.
Her passing left a profound void.
In response, the family mobilized support. But over time, a deeper realization emerged: temporary efforts were not enough. A more sustainable path needed to be built.
Chapter III — The Rebirth: The Birth of the DJENDE Project
In 2024, the rise in coffee prices brought renewed hope.
Coffee growers were encouraged by a clear ambition: to help create better conditions for the value of their harvest, and to make it easier for parents to support their families through the dignity of their own work.
It is from that promise that the DJENDE project was officially born.
The name was chosen in honour of:
- the land of our ancestors,
- our grandfather,
- and our mother.
DJENDE also carries a long-term intention: to help support education-focused initiatives connected to children from farming families linked to Djende, in continuation of the values Elisette embodied.
Chapter IV — A Broader Commitment: A Promise Beyond One Village
What began with the coffee of one village has grown into a wider conviction:
What started as a desire to honour the growers of Djende can help inspire a more respectful and transparent sourcing vision across other communities.
Today, DJENDE is built on that principle.
Every product — coffee, tea, honey, spices, and more — is selected with care and integrity. We are committed to responsible sourcing relationships guided by respect, transparency, and long-term value creation for the people behind the product.
